Victor Robles Suspended for 10 Games by Major League Baseball

Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles has been handed a 10-game suspension by Major League Baseball (MLB) for throwing his bat at a pitcher during a Triple-A rehab assignment.

The incident occurred during a game against the Las Vegas Aviators, where Robles was hit by a pitch. Frustrated by the multiple hit-by-pitches in his rehab games and dealing with personal stress, including the passing of his mother and recovering from a left shoulder injury, Robles threw his bat in the direction of pitcher Joey Estes.

Robles was immediately ejected from the game, and the suspension was announced by MLB on Tuesday. The suspension's length is 10 games, and Robles also received an undisclosed fine. However, the suspension will only take effect once Robles returns to the Mariners' active Major League Baseball (MLB) roster, so it will not be served during his current rehab stint in Triple-A.

The Mariners president of baseball operations, Jerry Dipoto, stated that Robles was set to be recalled next week, but the incident and subsequent suspension have changed their plans. The team will face a challenge while Robles serves the suspension, as they will be short one outfielder once he returns to the major league roster and must miss 10 games.

Robles has appealed the suspension, which means the discipline is on hold until the appeals process is complete. In a post on his Instagram Stories on Monday, Robles expressed his remorse for his actions, citing the challenging period he's been through.

The suspension highlights disciplinary enforcement in MLB for unsafe behavior, even during minor league rehab assignments. The Mariners must now navigate Robles' absence while managing his recovery from injury and emotional challenges.
