Strutting into the limelight: Barry Keoghan for Peaky Blinders
The cat is out of the bag, y'all! The forthcoming Peaky Blinders film, based on the hit TV show, is shaping up nicely. Netflix dropped the bomb as early as June that Cillian Murphy, 48, would return to his iconic role as the ruthless Birmingham gang kingpin, Tommy Shelby, in their production. Lately, another familiar face has been added to the mix: Barry Keoghan, 31, will also join the Peaky Blinders cinematic universe, as posted on Netflix's Instagram.
When's the shoot start?
Netflix hasn't unveiled Keoghan's character yet, but since Murphy and Dune actress Rebecca Ferguson, 40, he's the third known cast member. The movie, in production since 2021, is rumored to commence filming next month in Birmingham. With the story set during World War II, expect it to focus on the young guns of the Peaky Blinders.
A stalwart of the small screen
The BBC Two series Peaky Blinders - Gangs of Birmingham, starring the quick-witted Cillian Murphy, gripped audiences in 2013. After six seasons, and closing with the finale in 2022, creator Steve Knight, 65, is back for more. "I'm freaking pumped about this f**king movie! It's gonna be a wild ride, man. A legitimate Peaky Blinders at war!" said Knight, expressing a zeal like no other.
