Barrick Gold Surges as Prices Hit Record, Debt Drops Ahead of Mine Sales

Gold prices have soared to an unprecedented high, surpassing $4,000 per ounce. Meanwhile, Barrick Gold Corporation, under the leadership of Mark Bristow, has seen significant stock gains and debt reduction, with a major mine sale on the horizon.

Barrick Gold Corporation's stock has surged by 111.2% this year, nearing the industry average of 115.1%. The company's strong performance is reflected in its earnings estimates, with a projected 67.5% increase for 2025 and a further 13.8% growth expected in 2026.

Under Bristow's guidance, Barrick has paid out $6.7 billion to shareholders and cut net debt by $4 billion. The company's financial prowess is also evident in its planned sale of the Hemlo gold mine, expected to fetch up to $1.09 billion in September 2025. Additionally, Barrick is nearing completion of selling its stake in the Tongon gold mine for $305 million.

Raymond James Financial, in its October 2025 analysis, raised its third-quarter 2025 earnings estimate for Barrick to $0.62 per share, indicating increased confidence in the company's operational performance. This positive outlook comes as Mark Hill took over as interim CEO in September 2025.

Barrick Gold Corporation's robust financial performance, reflected in its stock gains, debt reduction, and mine sales, aligns with the bullish gold price environment. With gold prices reaching an all-time high and positive earnings estimates, Barrick looks set to continue its strong trajectory under Hill's interim leadership.
