BARMM Appoints Abunawas Maslamama as New Senior Minister
Ahmed 'Al Haj Murad' Ebrahim, the interim Chief Minister of BARMM, has appointed Abunawas Maslamama as the new senior minister. Maslamama, previously known as 'Von Al Haq,' accepted the appointment, expressing his readiness to take on the challenge.
Maslamama replaces Abdulraof Macacua, who stepped down from the position. Before his appointment, Maslamama served as deputy minister of interior and local government in BARMM. He is known for his extensive background in the Moro revolution, having served as a mujahideen in the early 1970s and later heading the MILF's coordinating committee on the cessation of hostilities.
The senior minister position in BARMM is equivalent to an executive secretary at the regional level. It is a key role in the autonomous region's governance. Maslamama's appointment comes amidst reports of widespread corruption in BARMM, as revealed by journalist Ferdinand B. Cabrera of MindaNews.
Abunawas Maslamama, with his rich history in the Moro revolution and his recent role in BARMM's government, takes on the significant challenge of senior minister. His appointment is expected to bring fresh perspectives and leadership to the region's governance.
