Barishal University Disciplines 25 Students After Football Match Clash

Barishal University has taken stern disciplinary actions against 25 students following a football match clash on September 12. The incident, which occurred at a playground near the campus, was reviewed by the syndicate. The approved measures were published on Thursday, with Vice-Chancellor M Abdus Sobhan signing off on October 22, 2025.

Among the students facing consequences, Shahariar Shawon and Tarikul Islam Nayon could either serve a six-month expulsion or pay a fine of Tk 20,000 and Tk 40,000 respectively. Shawon Sheikh and Sazzad Hossain have been expelled for one semester. Additionally, 21 students have been asked to submit undertakings in the presence of their guardians.

Ten students from marketing and 11 from AIS have been instructed to appear with their guardians and submit written bonds. Four students have been suspended for six months for their role in the incident.

The university syndicate approved the disciplinary actions on October 11, with the vice-chancellor signing off on October 22, 2025. The university has taken stern measures to maintain discipline and ensure the safety of its students.
