UEFA Announces Disciplinary Measures Following Champions League Semi-final

The European football governing body, UEFA, has announced a series of fines and suspensions following the Champions League semi-final match between FC Barcelona and Inter Milan.

The fines and suspensions are not related to a failed drug test but rather procedural violations. Barcelona forwards Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski were fined €5,000 each for failing to report immediately to the doping control station after the match and for not following the instructions of the official conducting the tests.

UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body imposed these fines, stating that the violation was about breaching the protocol and administrative rules rather than testing positive for banned substances or failing a drug test.

In addition, FC Barcelona was sanctioned with a combined fine of €7,750 for objects thrown onto the pitch and €2,500 for fireworks ignited by supporters during the semi-final clash.

Head coach Hansi Flick and assistant Marcus Sorg received one-match suspensions and €20,000 penalties each for misconduct and breaching the organization's general principles of conduct during and after the match. The suspensions and fines will take immediate effect, meaning they will serve their bans in the club's next European fixture.

The incident took place during Barcelona's Champions League semi-final clash, with reports suggesting it occurred following Barcelona's 4-3 loss in Milan, which sealed their exit from the tournament.

The sanctions against FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick, Marcus Sorg, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski were a result of various violations during and after the Champions League semi-final match. The European football governing body confirmed the punishment on Friday.
