"Barbara, referred to as 'The Cruel', ushers in the New Year with a celebratory gathering"

In the picturesque town of Dillweißenstein, the air is filled with anticipation as the Belrem Guild prepares to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the Dillweißenstein Fasching parade.

The anniversary parade will commence at 14:11 on Fasching Tuesday, February 13, 2018, marking the first celebration of the parade after a three-year break.

Jörg Müller, also known as Ritter Belrem, will lead the parade, beating the drum with the same vigour that has become synonymous with the tradition. He will be joined by Suleima (Maite Sancho), adding an international flavour to the local celebration.

Accompanying Ritter Belrem and Suleima will be the market maidens and cannoneers, an essential part of the Belrem Guild's festivities. The cannoneers will be responsible for firing the cannon shots, a tradition that has been practiced for years.

The cannon used in this celebration is none other than "Cruel Barbara", a name that echoes through the streets of Dillweißenstein every New Year. This tradition is a significant part of the cultural practices in the town.

The Belrem Guild, located in Dillweißenstein, has been the driving force behind this unique celebration. The Guild, known for its rich history, will return to the Pforzheim market square on New Year's Day, where they fired six cannon shots from "Cruel Barbara".

The honour of being knighted as Ritter Belrem during the carnival anniversary celebration in 2018 went to Rainer Steininger. This appointment is a testament to the Guild's commitment to recognising and honouring its members.

Frank Daudert, the owner of "Goldis Stadl", extended an invitation for the Belrem Guild to fire the cannon shots, further emphasising the event's association with the Belrem Guild.

As the town gears up for the parade, the excitement is palpable. The anniversary of the Dillweißenstein Fasching parade is more than just a celebration; it's a tradition, a cultural practice, and a testament to the spirit of Dillweißenstein.
