Banning of Bellingham from La Liga Looms Threateningly (Three Times)

Real Madrid faces the potential loss of Jude Bellingham for their upcoming three matches, following a suspension from the La Liga disciplinary committee. The suspension stems from an incident during yesterday's game against Valencia at the Mestalla, where Bellingham, an English attacking midfielder for the Spanish club, was issued a red card for using profane language towards the referee.

In the closing moments of the match, which ended in a 2-2 draw, Bellingham scored Madrid's third goal with a header. However, referee Jesús Gil Manzano blew the final whistle moments before the goal, preventing it from counting. Subsequently, Bellingham and his teammates approached the referee in an attempt to contest the call, with Bellingham being the most vocal among them.

The disciplinary committee is set to convene at the start of next week to determine the length of Bellingham's suspension, with 2 or 3 matches being a possibility. Real Madrid has announced its intention to appeal the red card, aiming to overturn any potential punishment for their player.

Despite the loss of points in Valencia and the controversial finishing of the game, Real Madrid currently sits atop the La Liga table with 66 points, leading second-placed Girona by 7 points. The team's unbeaten streak in the league has been extended to 21 matches (15 wins and 6 draws).

Previously, Bellingham served a two-match ban in La Liga after an incident during a game against Osasuna, in which he used abusive language towards the referee[4]. However, his upcoming suspension stemming from the Copa del Rey will not affect his participation in La Liga for the remainder of the 2024–25 season, as he will serve it in the Copa del Rey next season[2].

For the final La Liga match of the 2024–25 season, Bellingham was unavailable due to a one-match suspension resulting from his fifth yellow card of the season[4]. He will, however, be available for the upcoming Club World Cup in June, where Real Madrid will contest against Al Hilal, Pachuca, and RB Salzburg[4].

Jude Bellingham's voiced displeasure towards the referee during yesterday's game, which may result in his absence for crucial European leagues matches, such as football's La Liga, due to a potential suspension from the disciplinary committee. Following his red card, Bellingham's upcoming suspension in the Copa del Rey will not affect his participation in La Liga for the remainder of the 2024–25 season.
