The Move to Marx Halle: Erste Bank Open Expands Horizons
You're welcome to join the buzz surrounding the ATP-500 event rocking Vienna this year from October 18 to 26. For the last four years, the event has offered a second venue at the Heumarkt tent, but this year, we're making a ginormous leap to the Marx Halle!
Now, you might wonder, why the shift? Well, here's the lowdown: the new arena in the neighborhood is scheduled to be ready by 2030, and by then, the move from the 15th district to the 3rd district will be a done deal. Herwig Straka, the tournament director, couldn't contain his excitement at the project presentation on Wednesday evening: "The new second venue marks the first step towards the Wien Holding Arena for the Erste Bank Open."
But wait, there's more! The Marx Halle offers plenty of exciting opportunities for both players and fans. For instance, we'll witness the first-ever wheelchair tennis tournament and youth tournament right here! According to Straka, the tournament will undergo a massive enhancement as a whole.
So, what's new tennis-wise? We're setting up three indoor tennis courts in the Marx Halle - two as match courts and one for training sessions. Add that to the existing two courts each in the Stadthalle and the Tenniszentrum La Ville, and our star players will have a grand total of seven courts to practice and play on during the tournament. Expanding the tournament area? Oh yeah, we're totally keeping up with the international crowd!

The two match courts in the Marx Halle will cater to up to 2,000 spectators. The bigger training spots in Neu Marx may even tempt some top-tier stars to train at the secondary venue. For just 25 euros, you can score a "Groundticket" that grants access to all events in the Marx Halle for the entire day.
