Bank of Russia Unveils Luntik Coin Series for Collectors and Fans
The Central Bank of Russia is set to release a limited edition coin series featuring the beloved character Luntik. The series, part of the 'Russian (Soviet) Animation' collection, will include three coins, each with unique features and mintages.
The series will kick off with a silver coin, priced at 3 rubles, boasting a colored coating and a mintage of 7,000 units. Next, a steel coin with nickel plating will be issued, valued at 25 rubles, with a significantly higher mintage of 850,000 units. Lastly, a copper-nickel coin with colored coating will be released, also priced at 25 rubles, with a mintage of 150,000 units.
Luntik, a favorite character for two decades, has been chosen for this series due to his enduring popularity. The license to produce goods under the Luntik brand is held by the studio 'Melnitsa', which has proper legal relations with the Central Bank. Olga Korableva, the license holder, recently discussed this exciting development in an interview with the publication 'Abzac'.
The Luntik coin series is the latest addition to the 'Russian (Soviet) Animation' collection, which has previously featured iconic characters from Russian and Soviet animated films. With its unique designs and varied mintages, this series is sure to be a hit among collectors and fans alike.
