Bangladesh stars cleared for PSL despite regional tensions and security risks
Six Bangladesh national team players have received clearance to compete in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after security checks. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) issued No Objection Certificates following consultations with government agencies. The decision allows the cricketers to travel despite ongoing regional tensions.
The BCB worked closely with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Bangladesh mission in Islamabad before approving the trip. After reviewing security conditions, authorities confirmed no visible threats in Pakistan.
Fast bowlers Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, and Nahid Rana, along with batter Parvez Hossain Emon, left for Pakistan on Monday. Mustafizur and Parvez will represent Lahore Qalandars, while Shoriful, Nahid, and Tanzim have joined Peshawar Zalmi. Rishad Hossain will play for the Rawalpindi Pindis.
The PSL's ninth season runs from March 26 to May 3, featuring six teams: Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, Rawalpindi Pindis, Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, and Multan Sultans. Due to a domestic fuel crisis worsened by the Middle East conflict, matches will take place in only two venues. All games will be held behind closed doors.
The players' participation follows thorough security assessments and government approval. Their involvement in the PSL will proceed under restricted conditions, with no spectators allowed. The tournament will conclude on May 3, with all matches played at just two locations.
