Bangladesh mourns entrepreneur and cricketer Rubaiyat Jamil's sudden death at 46

Rubaiyat Jamil, a well-known entrepreneur and passionate cricketer, passed away suddenly on Friday at the age of 46. He collapsed during a cricket match in Hathazari, Chattogram, and could not be revived. His death has left family, friends, and business associates in mourning across Bangladesh. Jamil was the only son of the late Mahbub Jamil, former chairman of Singer Bangladesh Ltd. He leaves behind his mother, sister, wife, three daughters, and a wide circle of relatives and friends. His Namaz-e-Janazah will take place on Sunday at Gulshan Azad Mosque, following Zuhr prayers. He will then be laid to rest at Banani Graveyard.

Beyond cricket, Jamil was a prominent figure in business. He founded ICE Technologies, a leading company in industrial cooling solutions, where he served as CEO. His ventures also spanned technology, food retail, and elevator systems. Active in professional networks, he held memberships in the International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and BASIS. Previously, he had served as a director of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Dhaka. In his youth, Jamil represented Bangladesh at under-16 and under-19 cricket levels during the 1990s. His love for the sport remained strong, and he continued playing regularly until his final match.

Jamil's sudden death has cut short a life marked by entrepreneurial success and sporting dedication. His funeral arrangements will proceed as planned, with the business community and cricket fraternity expected to pay their respects. The loss is deeply felt by those who knew him both professionally and personally.
