Bangladesh inspects Jamuna Bridge and SASEC-2 project for safer regional travel

Road Transport and Bridges Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf visited the Jamuna Bridge and key sites in the SASEC-2 project on Thursday. His inspection covered progress in Tangail and Sirajganj, along with a focus on easing traffic flow and structural safety measures.

During the visit, Rouf examined the 'Structural Health Monitoring System' of the Jamuna Bridge. He also reviewed river management efforts and the western guide embankment near the structure.

The secretary toured critical locations, including the Hatikumrul interchange in Sirajganj. There, he assessed ongoing work linked to the SASEC Road Connection Project-2. Rouf highlighted the importance of the SASEC-2 project for seamless travel between North Bengal, Dhaka, and the south-western region. He also stressed upgrades to the Automated Toll Collection System to cut delays and improve conditions for passengers at toll plazas.

The inspection confirmed the project’s role in boosting regional connectivity. Rouf’s recommendations now aim to speed up construction and enhance toll operations. These steps are expected to reduce congestion and strengthen transport links across key districts.
