Bangladesh health minister urges doctors to unite for stronger healthcare system
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain has called for stronger cooperation from physicians to improve Bangladesh's medical sector. Speaking at an event, he stressed the importance of honesty and teamwork to reach key healthcare goals.
The minister also outlined recent government efforts, including vaccine supply management and new medical facilities at Rajshahi Medical College.
The event brought together senior and junior doctors, along with Professor Md Monir Hossain Khan, the general secretary of the medical society. Participants also honoured the late Professor AMSM Sharfuzzaman Rubel, a former president of the organisation.
Sakhawat Husain highlighted the need for a unified approach in healthcare. He asked physicians to spread this message to colleagues working at the grassroots level. Without their support, he warned, delivering proper healthcare services would remain a challenge. The minister reaffirmed his commitment to eliminating corruption within the health ministry. He believes that with dedication and collaboration, doctors can gain greater respect and help strengthen the sector. Recent government initiatives include managing rabies vaccine supplies, preparing for a potential rise in measles cases, and setting up NICU and ventilation facilities at Rajshahi Medical College.
The minister's speech underlined the role of doctors in shaping Bangladesh's healthcare future. By working together, he said, the medical community can improve services and ensure better outcomes for patients. The government's latest measures aim to address critical needs, from vaccine distribution to specialised care.
