Bangladesh Book Industry Workshop Focuses on Sales, Marketing Skills

A workshop titled 'Srijonshil O Karjakar Boi Bikroy Koushal' was recently held in Old Dhaka, focusing on enhancing book sales and marketing skills. The event was organized by Baisamyabirodhi Srijonshil Grantha Prakashak Samity, with Md. Anisur Rahman, also the head of Suchipatra publishing house, serving as the president of the organizing committee.

The workshop was inaugurated by Protidiner Bangladesh editor Maruf Kamal Khan, with sales development specialist SK Nasir Ahamed Razib acting as the trainer. Maruf Kamal observed that despite increased literacy and financial capability, the publication industry has not grown as expected. He suggested that publishers should focus on building relationships with customers and sales agents, rather than solely relying on government opportunities.

Saeed Bari, the president of the organizing committee, emphasized the need for more training in marketing and publishing to improve the industry. He noted that while digital technology has made strides, printed books remain widely sold in many developed countries. Sales experts, book publishers, and a journalist present agreed that digital technology is beneficial, not detrimental, to the creative book industry. Writer and publisher Wahid Tushar also spoke at the event, sharing his insights on the topic.

The workshop 'Srijonshil O Karjakar Boi Bikroy Koushal' brought together industry professionals to discuss strategies for improving book sales and marketing in Bangladesh. Participants emphasized the importance of year-round engagement with authors and readers, as well as the continued relevance of printed books in the digital age. The event highlighted the need for ongoing training and innovation in the publishing industry to drive growth and success.
