The Rattles: A Journey Through Time in German Rock

The Rattles, a pioneering German beat band, have had an illustrious career spanning over six decades. Formed in the early 1960s, they made their mark on the German charts with seven consecutive hits.

The band's success came after the addition of Dicky Tarrach, who joined the band in 1963. Tarrach, who initially had plans for a career in the civil service, was drawn to the allure of music. Even his mother, who tried to dissuade him, could not prevent him from pursuing his passion.

In 1966, the band found itself in a crisis when lead singer Achim Reichel was drafted into the military. Frank Dostal was brought in as a replacement, and the band continued to thrive. They even participated in the Bravo-Beatles Blitz Tour in June of the same year.

The Rattles achieved success not only in Germany but also in the UK, the birthplace of the beat music scene. This success continued until the end of 1966, when the band faced another crisis with Reichel's departure.

However, the band made a comeback in 1988 with the studio album "Hot Wheels" and the title single. Since then, Tarrach has been a constant figure in the German rock scene. He had previously worked as a session musician and soloist in the studio, and as a touring drummer for Schlager stars like Freddy Quinn, known for his punctuality and professionalism.

In 1965, the band produced the "first German beat film", titled "Hurra, die Rattles kommen". Today, they are currently successful with a theater piece titled "Murder in the Shark Bar". This production, developed in collaboration with the IKS Theater, offers a unique theatrical experience.

"Murder in the Shark Bar" is reminiscent of the Ohnesorg Theater but features a live rock band. The play is scheduled to be performed again from September 20 to September 27. The Rattles are also planning to perform their hits in Bad Doberan and Neubrandenburg.

Despite the passage of time, The Rattles continue to captivate audiences with their music and innovative theater pieces, making them a beloved fixture in the German rock scene.
