Bamberg's Mayors Stand With Bosch Employees After Job Cut Announcement
Bamberg's Mayor Andreas Starke and Mayor Jonas Glüsenkamp have reacted to Bosch's recent announcement of job cuts, expressing concern and solidarity with the affected employees. The city leadership will be present at an action day on October 1, 2025, to show their support.
Bosch has announced plans to cut 13,000 jobs across Germany, a move that has caused deep concern among local leaders. The city of Bamberg, home to approximately 6,000 Bosch employees, is no exception. Mayor Starke and Mayor Glüsenkamp have both expressed their worries about the impact on employees and their families.
The Bamberg plant, however, has been spared from the current layoffs. Plant manager Tobias Hauk confirmed that the division in Bamberg will not be affected. Mayor Starke attributed this to the joint efforts of the plant management and the works council in recent years. The city has been actively supporting the transformation process at Bosch, working alongside the plant management to create future prospects.
Despite the reassurance, Mayor Starke acknowledged the employees' concerns about the future security of the Bamberg plant after 2027. Mayor Glüsenkamp, however, expressed belief in the innovative strength and shaping power of Bosch and the location of Bamberg.
While the Bosch Bamberg plant has been spared from the current job cuts, the city stands by the workforce and shares their concerns about the future. Mayor Starke and Mayor Glüsenkamp have both expressed their solidarity and will be present at the action day on October 1, 2025, to show their support.
