Shamrock Rovers have secured a place in the play-off round of the UEFA Conference League following a commanding 4-1 victory against Ballkani in the third qualifying round second leg. The Irish side, managed by Stephen Bradley, showcased their attacking prowess with Rory Gaffney scoring a brace, Josh Honohan and Graham Burke adding one goal each.

Gaffney's first goal came early in the match, with Connor Malley providing an assist through a cutback. Burke, who came off the bench, scored the fourth goal, making it 4-0 against Ballkani. However, the visitors managed to score a consolation goal late in the game.

The match saw several substitutions on both sides. For Shamrock Rovers, Burke, Noonan, Matthews, McGovern, and Nugent replaced Gaffney, Mandroiu, Honohan, Healy, and Malley respectively. Ballkani made substitutions too, with Diene, Tolaj, Serebe, and Halili coming on for Ismajlgeci, Adetunji, Letaj, and Kryeziu respectively, due to poor performances from some of their original players.

Danny Mandroiu received a yellow card during the match, adding to the team's disciplinary record. The win puts Shamrock Rovers in a strong position heading into the play-off first-leg against Santa Clara next Thursday.

Meanwhile, there has been no confirmation regarding Josh Honohan's potential call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Honohan's impressive performance, including a stunning volley in Shamrock Rovers' 3-0 win against Ballkani, has drawn positive attention, but as of now, his call-up remains unconfirmed.

In other news, Shamrock Rovers' FAI Cup tie against Longford Town is scheduled for Sunday. The play-off between Shamrock Rovers and Vasco Matos's Brazilian-heavy squad is worth €3.17 million for the victors and consists of two legs and six group matches up to Christmas week.

However, the recent disagreement at training caused Graham Burke and Jack Byrne to be omitted from Shamrock Rovers' European squad. Matthew Healy, a key player in Shamrock Rovers' system, was not affected by this decision.
