Bafta Honors Avatar: Fire and Ash With Top Visual Effects Award

The Bafta Film Awards recognised Avatar: Fire and Ash with a key visual effects prize. The win went to Wētā FX, the New Zealand-based studio behind the film's groundbreaking imagery. Over 1,200 of its artists worked on the project, contributing more than 90% of the movie's effects.

Joe Letteri, Eric Saindon, and Daniel Barrett accepted the award on behalf of Wētā FX. For Letteri, this marked his sixth Bafta victory. Saindon and Barrett each secured their second win.

Elsewhere at the ceremony, Kiwi costume designer Kate Hawley took home the best costume design award. Her work on Frankenstein earned her the accolade.

The Bafta for visual effects highlights Wētā FX's role in shaping Avatar: Fire and Ash. The studio's large team delivered the bulk of the film's effects, reinforcing its reputation in the industry. Hawley's win also spotlights New Zealand talent in costume design.
