B31 in Freiburg faces week-long lane closures for urgent tree maintenance

Tree maintenance work will soon begin along the B31 in Freiburg im Breisgau. The project, set to start on Monday, February 9, will require lane closures in both directions between Schnewlinbrücke and Greiffeneggbrücke. Authorities aim to improve road safety on this busy federal highway while keeping disruption to a minimum.

The work will operate as a moving zone, affecting short sections of the road at a time. One lane in each direction will be closed, but only outside peak traffic hours. This approach should help reduce delays for drivers passing through the area.

No official detours will be introduced, though temporary hold-ups are expected. The project is scheduled to last about one week, following the typical duration for similar maintenance tasks on this route.

The closures will apply to both inbound and outbound traffic. Crews will focus on essential tree maintenance to prevent hazards and maintain safe conditions for motorists.

The lane restrictions will remain in place until the work is completed, likely within seven days. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time when passing through the affected stretch of the B31. The measures are part of ongoing efforts to keep the heavily used road safe for all users.
