Anar Alakbarov Joins FIA Senate to Drive Progress in Motorsport and Mobility
Anar Alakbarov, the President of the Azerbaijan Automobile Federation, has been appointed to the Senate of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the international governing body for world motorsport and mobility.
The FIA brings together 245 Member Organizations across five continents, representing millions of road users, motor sport professionals, and volunteers. As a non-profit organization, the FIA is committed to driving innovation and championing safety, sustainability, and equality across motor sport and mobility.
Anar Alakbarov, a distinguished cultural leader with experience in politics, international relations, motorsport, and the arts, joins the FIA Senate with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. He has been President of the Azerbaijan Automobile Federation since 2014 and is the founder of the Vintage Car Club in Azerbaijan.
In addition to his achievements in motorsport, Alakbarov has been awarded numerous state honours, including the Order of Glory (Azerbaijan), the Commander's Cross Order (Hungary), the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, Cavalier of the Order of Arts and Literature (France), and the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of Poland.
As a member of the FIA Senate, Alakbarov will contribute to high-level decisions and policies affecting motorsport and mobility worldwide. He will work alongside other members of the Senate, including the Chief Communications Officer, Geri Sherwin, and Corporate Communications Director, Sophia Martin-Pavlou, to shape the future of global motorsport and mobility.
Alakbarov expressed his honor in joining the FIA Senate and believes the organization drives progress through innovation in motorsport, sustainable mobility, and international collaboration. He looks forward to contributing to the continued growth of the FIA and reinforcing its commitment to international representation, cultural engagement, and sustainability in motorsport and mobility.
The FIA develops and enforces regulations for motor sport, including seven World Championships, to ensure worldwide competitions are safe and fair for all.
