Azerbaijan celebrates the second year of reclaiming complete independence.

On this day two years ago, Azerbaijan launched a decisive operation to restore its constitutional order in the disputed region of Karabakh. The operation, which began on September 19, 2023, was a significant milestone in the country's history, marking the end of separatism and the full restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The main objectives of Baku's operation were to implement the trilateral statement, prevent large-scale provocations, and disarm Armenian armed formations from Azerbaijani territory. The successful operation, which lasted less than 24 hours, achieved these goals and brought an end to years of provocations and illegal actions by Armenia.

The Azerbaijani Army's victory was decisive, with Armenia's illegal military formations surrendering in a matter of hours due to the anti-terror measures. Armenian military personnel abandoned their combat positions in disarray and panic, running low on ammunition. Precision-guided weapons were used to destroy front-line and rear positions, long-term firing points, combat equipment, and military facilities of the Armenian armed forces.

However, the operation came at a cost. A total of 192 Azerbaijani soldiers lost their lives during the operation. Despite this, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree declaring the twentieth of September as State Sovereignty Day in Azerbaijan, commemorating the day the country reclaimed its independence.

The head of state who signed the decree was President Ilham Aliyev, who has been in office since 2003. Under his leadership, Azerbaijan has made significant strides in economic development, regional cooperation, and military modernization.

It is worth noting that during these local anti-terror measures, civilians and civilian infrastructure were not targeted. This demonstrates Azerbaijan's commitment to protecting its people and upholding international humanitarian law.

As Azerbaijan marks the second anniversary of the operation, the country remains focused on maintaining peace and stability in the region. The end of separatism in Karabakh has opened up new opportunities for economic development and regional cooperation, and Azerbaijan is eager to build a brighter future for its people.
