A Axel's Axe Murder Confession: 29-Year-Old Owns Up to Killing Roomie in Kassel

Murder confessor, aged 29, acknowledges axe crime in Kassel - Axe-wielding 29-year-old admits to homicide in Kassel

Let's dive into the sensational trial happening at the Regional Court of Kassel over the axe murder that occurred last year. The defendant, a 29-year-old Bulgarian, has put his cards on the table, confessing to ending his former roommate's life with an axe and later dismembering and concealing the remains.

The prosecution is accusing our man Axel of murder, claiming he bludgeoned his homeless roomie, who was just 26, while he peacefully napped. The grisly act reportedly went down in June 2024, with the victim sharing the room with Axel at the time. Later, the disturbing scene unfolded when the dismembered body was discovered near the Hercules monument and the former Bundesgartenschau (Buga) grounds along the Fulda. Some weeks after the killing, our heated hero was captured in the city of Kassel, where he had fled.

The prosecution suspects Axel was driven by a twisted jealousy, as he had a reputation for being insanely possessive.

Axel Speaks Up: "Drunk and Fucked Up"

Axel spins the yarn differently. He claims that the fatal axe attack wasn't on the 7th, but rather in the morning of the 8th of June. The victim was wide awake, and a fight had ensued before the lethal blows were dealt, Axel alleged, with an interpreter translating his words. He was convinced that his roommate could've sliced him to pieces with a knife, so he grabbed the axe and whacked the victim's skull twice.

The murderous tool had reportedly been stashed in the room for a while due to feelings of intimidation. Fearing being caught, he didn't alert medical help and initially locked the room. He additionally admitted to drinking his fair share of booze and ingesting various drugs, such as cannabis and fentanyl, in the hours prior to the crime.

Axel Feels Remorse

Following the crime, Axel delivered pizzas before shipping the body to the Buga grounds that night. Terrified that the corpse could be easily identified, he then chopped off the head and extremities, hiding them near the Hercules monument on the Essigberg.

His lawyer claims that he deeply regrets the act. The two had been pals for years, having known each other for about two to three years, and they'd been roommates for a while.

Double Trouble

This trial also sees Axel facing an additional charge of aggravated assault. In January 2024, he reportedly knifed another fellow and caused serious injuries. The prosecution alleges that a dispute over drug use was the cause of the skirmish. That's quite a serious additional accusation to deal with in the midst of the axe murder trial!
