Award granted to exceptional athlete following Neuss Run Cup competition
Let's Chat About the 2021 Rhein-Kreis Neuss Cup
Last year, County Director Dirk Brügge, the big-hearted bloke, warmly welcomed the athletic superstars and club representatives to the awards ceremony. In his rousing speech, he acknowledged the power of sport to unite, motivate, and push us to accomplish remarkable feats - and boy, did all these athletes demonstrate that sentiment! The Rhein-Kreis Neuss Cup, a long-standing tradition in our region's sporting calendar, doesn't just celebrate athletic ambition and resilience but also fosters a sense of community.
This amazing event brings together several well-known running events in our region. To make it to the overall ranking, you needed to tackle four out of the six races: Rosellen Evening Run, Neuss Summer Night Run, Grevenbroich City Run, International City Run in Korschenbroich, Seven Miles of Zons Night Run, and Neuss Erft Run. The three best performances counted towards the overall ranking.
There was a mix of individual categories for both men and women, categorized by age groups: "Under 39," "40 to 54," and "55 and over." Additionally, there was a team ranking for both genders.
The women's top spots for the different categories were dominated by Luisa Christa, Ellen Klein, and Sabrina Stauten (all TG Neuss) in the "Under 39" category, Doreen Floß, Heike Kellendonk (both TG Neuss), and Katja Kanditt (Mönchengladbach LG) in the "40 to 54" category, and Belinda Wilke (TG Neuss) in the "55 and over" category. For the men, the "Under 39" category showcased Imad Annaji, followed by Richard Wilke (both TG Neuss), and Christian Neitzel (VdS Nievenheim). The "40 to 54" category saw Matthias Rük (TG Neuss) on top, followed by Stefan Philipp-Zende (DJK Novesia Neuss) and Oliver Odenthal (TG Neuss). In the "55 and over" category, Matthias Bach (TV Orken), Herbert Golz, and Harald Glässer (SG Zons) led the pack. The best women's and men's teams were, of course, provided by TG Neuss.
The applause didn't just stop there. Kudos went to the tireless organizers, committed clubs, supportive sponsors, and hardworking volunteers who made the running cup an unforgettable experience. Without these champions, the event wouldn't be possible!
