Chappell Roan, the US singer-songwriter known for her Grammy-winning debut album "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess," has confirmed that her next album is not yet in production. In an August 2025 interview, Roan clarified that there is no official collection of songs for her second album, dispelling rumours of an imminent release.

Roan's debut album took her five years to write, and she expects the next album to take at least as long. This extensive timeline reflects her deliberate and meticulous songwriting process, emphasizing that she does not write music under pressure or forced conditions to maintain quality.

Collaborations with producer Dan Nigro have commenced since July 2024, and some new songs are underway. Nigro has developed a "fun, up-tempo country song" featuring a fiddle, indicating a fresh direction and sound experimentation for Roan's next album.

Roan values quality and authenticity over speed in songwriting, refusing to rush the process. She explained that simply being in the studio a lot does not mean an album will come faster, highlighting how crucial time and organic creativity are for her work.

Roan has released several singles, including "The Subway" and "The Giver," during this period, though they are separate from a full album release. Her international career was launched by the success of "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess," which contained hits like "Hot to Go!" and "Pink Pony Club."

In February 2025, Roan was awarded the Best New Artist award at the Grammys, marking a significant milestone in her career. Despite this recognition, Roan is not the type of songwriter who can quickly produce songs without proper thought.

Roan does not want to rush herself in creating her next album. She is taking her time to ensure that the music she produces is of the highest quality and true to her artistic vision. While no release date has been set for her second album, fans can expect more of Roan's authentic, thoughtful, and captivating music in the future.

Roan emphasized that quality and authenticity are her priorities, taking deliberate time for her songwriting process to avoid rushing music under pressure. In her upcoming album, collaborations with producer Dan Nigro have led to the creation of a "fun, up-tempo country song" with a fiddle, suggesting a fresh direction and experimentation.
