Aviation crisis unfolding in Kuban region

On the evening of July 5th, residents in Krasnodar and certain regions of the Krasnodar Krai received an emergency information broadcast via the MCHS app. The broadcast advised increased vigilance and calm, as well as instructing residents to dial 112 immediately in case of emergency.

Minutes prior to the broadcast, the overpass leading to the Crimean Bridge was reported closed, and traffic on the bridge was temporarily halted. The broadcast was accompanied by a photo taken by Oleg ZOLOTO, and the message urged residents to stay in shelter until the 'all clear' signal was received. It also advised taking shelter in a windowless building and avoiding open street areas.

The emergency broadcast was issued due to multiple missile and drone attacks targeting the Crimean Bridge and the port city of Novorossiysk in Krasnodar Krai. Ukrainian forces launched several cruise missiles and anti-ship Neptune missiles toward the Crimean Bridge, causing an aviation hazard due to the threat of falling explosive devices. Simultaneously, unmanned aerial and maritime drones attacked Novorossiysk, activating air raid sirens and air defenses for several hours.

The aviation hazard was resolved through active Russian air defense measures. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported shooting down a total of 120 drones during the night of July 5 to 6, with multiple drones intercepted over Krasnodar Krai and other regions. In Novorossiysk, air defense systems engaged and destroyed attacking drones, including maritime drones, helping to mitigate the threat. Although there is no detailed information about the extent of damage, air defense efforts successfully countered the drone and missile attacks.

This incident is part of ongoing hostilities involving drone and missile attacks in the region amidst the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The resolution of the aviation hazard on July 5th marks a significant step in maintaining safety and security for the residents of Krasnodar Krai.

In light of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and the escalating war-and-conflicts, the emergency broadcast via the MCHS app on July 5th was issued due to multiple missile and drone attacks targeting the Crimean Bridge and the port city of Novorossiysk, which falls under the general-news category. The broadcast also advised residents to avoid open street areas and take shelter in windowless buildings, a suggestion relevant to the crime-and-justice sector, as it aims to ensure public safety during such critical times.
