Avangard's persistent struggle over Rashevsky considered exposed

Dmitry Rashevsky, a 24-year-old forward and right winger, has joined Omsk "Avangard" after signing a three-year contract last Friday. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2000, Rashevsky stands 6'1" tall and weighs 183 lbs, shooting left-handed.

The fast-playing style of Rashevsky was a significant factor in Omsk "Avangard" securing his services. General Manager Alexei Soupin expressed his enthusiasm, stating that the club was particularly interested in signing a speedy player. Head coach Guy Boucher also expressed his hope that Rashevsky would make the team faster.

Rashevsky's previous team was Dynamo Moskva, from which he transferred to Avangard Omsk in late June 2025. His performance in the previous playoffs saw him score 4 points in 16 games, demonstrating his scoring touch.

The financial terms of Rashevsky's transfer have not been disclosed publicly, but it is known to be a restricted free agent deal. The transfer cost between 115 and 117 million rubles.

Soupin is optimistic about Rashevsky's integration into the team, despite the unsuccessful previous season. He believes that if head coach Guy Boucher can find the right place and way to use Rashevsky, he will play at 100% and be useful.

Several other clubs were interested in Rashevsky, but he ultimately chose Omsk "Avangard". Soupin, who was previously a sports director for "Dinamo" and is now the general manager of Omsk "Avangard", played a key role in preventing Rashevsky from leaving "Dinamo" for Omsk.

Rashevsky is a player of good age, with a scoring touch, excellent shot, and high speed. His addition to Omsk "Avangard" signals the club's investment in a young, promising forward to bolster their offensive lineup in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), a prominent league in Russia and Europe.
