Autumn officially commences with the concluding days of the late summer, according to the calendar's schedule.
The late summer weather in Germany is set to deliver a grand finale before autumn officially begins, according to the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach.
The high pressure area "Oldenburgia" brings plenty of sunshine to large parts of the country on Saturday, with temperatures expected to reach up to 32 degrees Celsius. However, cloud fields are expected in the northwest, and rain showers and thunderstorms are possible from the Lower Rhine to Schleswig-Holstein.
On Sunday, the weather is expected to be changeable in a broad band from the southwest across central Germany to eastern Brandenburg. The late summer will persist until well into Sunday in the region southeast of a line from Lake Constance to Lusatia, with temperatures up to 28 degrees still possible there.
As we move into the new week, the weather will show its changeable side, according to Tanja Egerer from the weather forecasting center of DWD. Rain should be expected in the south and southeast at the start of the new week. No specific timings for the weather changes were provided.
In the north, the weather change will be noticeable on Saturday, with the northwesterly wind picking up towards the end of the week, bringing a lively breeze to the North Sea islands. The weather will become increasingly cloudy from the northwest on Sunday.
However, the sun has the best chance in the north at the start of the new week. No specific information about the weather in other regions besides large parts of the country and the northwest was provided for the new week.
Looking further ahead, on August 31, 2025, the weather in Germany, particularly in the region southwest of a line from Lake Constance (Bodensee) to Lusatia, is expected to still feature summer conditions with temperatures reaching around 25 to 31 degrees Celsius. This is due to remnants of ex-Hurricane Erin bringing warm air, after which showers and thunderstorms may occur as the month ends.
So, enjoy the last days of summer while they last, as autumn is just around the corner!
