Autumn officially begins according to the calendar as summer reaches its conclusion.

The German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach has announced a late summer surge, signalling the end of the warm weather season. According to meteorologist Tanja Egerer from DWD's Forecast and Advisory Center, the weather will show a changeable side at the start of the new week.

Rain is expected in the south and southeast at the start of the week, while the northwest will experience a noticeable change in weather on Saturday. Incoming cloud fields are forecast in the northwest on Saturday, and rain showers and thunderstorms are possible from the Lower Rhine to Schleswig-Holstein on this day.

However, the high pressure system "Oldenburgia" brings mostly sunny weather on Saturday, with the sun having the best chance in the north. The weather will become increasingly cloudy from the northwest on Sunday, and Sunday in southwest to central Germany, and eastern Brandenburg, will be variable.

Despite the change, the late summer temperatures up to 28 degrees are expected southeast of a line from Lake Constance to Lusatia, until Sunday. The North Sea islands will experience a lively northwesterly wind towards the end of the week.

Unfortunately, the 20-degree mark will not be reached anywhere at the start of the new week, and no new forecast of rain showers and thunderstorms was given for the days following Saturday. Autumn is approaching, and it seems the late summer weather in Germany is giving a final performance.

Stay tuned for more updates on the changing weather conditions across Germany.
