Autumn Literature Festival in Göttingen attended by Merkel and Bela B
The much-anticipated Göttingen Literature Autumn is set to return from October 18 to November 2, bringing a ten-day celebration of literature, discussions, and performances to southern Lower Saxony. Ticket sales for both physical and digital events will commence on Thursday.
This year's event promises an exciting lineup of speakers, including Nobel laureate Katalin Karikó, who will discuss mRNA technology, and former Green Party leader Ricarda Lang. Bela B, known for his novel "Fun," will read from his work during the series, while Meteorologist Mojib Latif will delve into climate policy and global responsibility.
Max Goldt, author of "But?," will engage in thought-provoking discussions about the dullness of football for both women and men, or the uselessness of gay and straight marriage. Chancellor Angela Merkel is also expected to read from her autobiography "Freedom" on the second day of the event series.
The programme includes over 80 events at 30 different locations in and around Göttingen. Topics of discussion and report will range from political and societal issues like Gaza, democracy, and women. Four events will be live-streamed with sign language interpretation for accessibility, and some digital events will be available until the end of November.
Last year, the event attracted a staggering 23,600 visitors, and this year's event series promises to be just as popular. With prominent figures like Angela Merkel and Bela B set to participate, literature enthusiasts and curious minds alike are eagerly awaiting the return of the Göttingen Literature Autumn.
