Where Last-Minute Travelers Can Still Find Accommodation in the North - Autumn Holidays Spark Last-Minute Travel Surge in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg

Autumn holidays have begun in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, leading to a surge in last-minute bookings and travel traffic. Despite the rush, accommodation is still available in various coastal and inland areas.

ADAC Hansa predicts heavy traffic and congestion, particularly around Hamburg and on routes leading to the North and Baltic Seas. The good weather has encouraged last-minute bookings, with towns along the Lübeck Bay, such as Scharbeutz, Neustadt, and Sierksdorf, offering accommodation for groups of two to four. In Schleswig-Holstein, coastal areas like Büsum, the North Sea islands Föhr and Amrum, as well as Sylt and Helgoland, have available capacities for holiday apartments. Inland areas also provide suitable offers for various group sizes and preferences.

Eckernförde, a cycling and hiking region, has an occupancy rate of around 75 percent directly by the water, but there are still plenty of options available.

Despite the expected increase in travel traffic and last-minute bookings, accommodation can still be found in various locations across Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg. Travelers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid heavy traffic, especially around Hamburg and popular coastal areas.
