Iloilo City Prepares for Trillion Peso March as Police Remain Vigilant

In preparation for the upcoming Trillion Peso March on September 21, 2025, the Iloilo City Police Office (Icpo) has announced that their Civil Disturbance Management Unit (CDMU) will be on standby and ready for deployment. This decision comes following an instruction from President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., which supersedes local ordinances and lifts the "No Permit, No Rally" policy in Iloilo City.

Organized by various youth and activist groups including Anakbayan and Kabataan Partylist, the Trillion Peso March will focus on demands for social justice, economic reforms, and government accountability. The event aims to address flood control anomalies and corruption issues, and its outcome may set a precedent for future public assemblies and rallies across the country.

Police Colonel Kim Legada, city director of the Icpo, made the announcement, emphasising that the Icpo's responsibility is to maintain public order while respecting the voice of the people. All station and unit commanders in the Icpo have been directed to stay vigilant, alert, and prepared to provide assistance when necessary.

The Icpo's preparations for the Trillion Peso March involve coordination with civic leaders, local government offices, and community organizations. The focus of the Icpo's preparations is on ensuring that the march proceeds without incidents of violence or disruption. The Icpo will continue to engage with organizers to finalise routes, staging areas, and emergency protocols for the Trillion Peso March.

The Icpo appeals to organisers and supporters of the Trillion Peso March to keep the activity peaceful and orderly. The Icpo's CDMU will remain on standby and ready for deployment during the march, ensuring the safety and security of all participants and the public.

The Trillion Peso March on September 21, 2025, in Iloilo City serves as a test case for the implementation of the President's order in the city. As the day approaches, both the Icpo and the organisers of the Trillion Peso March are working together to ensure a peaceful and orderly event that reflects the voices and concerns of the people.
