Authorities issue weather alert for potential severe storms approaching

A storm that swept through the district of Herzogtum Lauenburg around Ratzeburg on Monday, September 14, 2025, has caused disruptions in traffic and led to an incident at a campsite in Römitz.

According to the Police Directorate Ratzeburg, a tree fell on a campervan at the campsite in Römitz on September 15, 2025, at around 20:00. The 62-year-old woman from Hamburg, who was in the campervan at the time, escaped unharmed as the tree only struck the front of the vehicle.

The storm also affected a tree in the district of Stormarn, causing large branches and entire trees to block roads, partially paralyzing traffic in both districts. On Tuesday morning at around 05:30, a tree blocked the road on the B208 in Kulpin.

The German Weather Service has issued a warning for continued stormy weather throughout Tuesday, urging residents to secure loose objects outdoors. The Police Directorate Ratzeburg advises residents of affected regions to stay at home or in a solid building if possible.

Residents are also encouraged to support fellow humans in need and stay informed about current developments. The Police Directorate Ratzeburg has been deployed six times due to the aftermath of the storm on Monday, September 16, 2025.
