Authorities in Dortmund are primarily concentrating their efforts on suppressing clandestine street racing operations.

In an effort to ensure road safety and combat the issue of illegal street racing, the Dortmund Police conducted a targeted operation from 18:00 to 02:00 on September 17, 2025. The operation began on Dorstfelder Allee near Rheinische Straße and later moved to the Schwanenwall area.

During the operation, a total of 20 speeding offenses were recorded on Dorstfelder Allee, with the highest excess speed reaching 29 km/h. Laser measurements on Schwanenwall resulted in 14 speeding offenses, all within the range of administrative offenses.

Three violations of the seat belt requirement were also recorded, and one warning fine for "other traffic offenses" was issued. A Mercedes-Benz was found with technical modifications requiring a review of its registration cancellation, and a stationary noise comparison measurement showed an excess of the permissible stationary noise for the vehicle. As a result, the Mercedes-Benz was deemed too loud and apparently not roadworthy, and was seized for the preparation of a technical report.

In addition to the traffic violations, three further registration cancellations were recorded, bringing the total to 42 offenses punished in the ongoing campaign against the "racer scene" in Dortmund. The Dortmund Police will continue to combat illegal street racing with increased vigilance, as it is a strategic goal to increase safety on the roads.

It is worth noting that the name of the head of the Dortmund traffic police coordinating the campaign against illegal street racing is not explicitly mentioned in the available search results. However, the police force remains committed to addressing this issue and ensuring the safety of all road users in the city.

To further reduce noise pollution from traffic, a maximum speed limit of 30 km/h applied to the entire Schwanenwall from 21:00 during the operation. The police checkpoint moved to the area of Schwanenwall at approximately 21:15.

The Dortmund Police will continue to monitor the situation and take action against any illegal activities on the city's roads. The public is encouraged to report any suspected illegal street racing or other traffic violations to the authorities.
