Authorities granted approval to disclose names of minors accused in the slaying of an 8-year-old boy in Toronto.

Toronto police have granted special permission to identify two teenagers accused in the fatal shooting of eight-year-old JahVai Roy. The exemptions, which allow the police to name and release images of suspects under 18, will expire on Sept. 24 or when the suspects are arrested.

The shooting occurred outside JahVai's home in the Martha Eaton Way and Tretheway Drive area at around 12:30 a.m. on August 16. JahVai was lying in bed with his mother when the shooting took place, but tragically, despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead in hospital.

The two teenagers accused of first-degree murder are Ibrahim Ibrahim and Amarii Lindner. Both have evaded arrest since the shooting was first reported. However, a 16-year-old suspect was arrested by police after they released an image, and this suspect also faces a first-degree murder charge.

The shooting sent shockwaves throughout the community, and anyone with information about Ibrahim or Lindner is asked to contact Toronto police immediately. Stray bullets also entered two other building units, but no one else was injured.

Toronto police Chief Myron Demkiw held a press conference on Wednesday to discuss the case. He expressed his condolences to the family and reiterated the police's commitment to finding the remaining suspects and bringing them to justice.

The expiration of the exemptions on Sept. 24 or the arrest of the suspects will mark the end of this tragic case, but for now, the search for Ibrahim and Lindner continues.
