Authorities curb unlawful automobile racing incidents in Mainz

On Saturday night, a thrilling and dangerous illegal street race unfolded on the A643 highway between Wiesbaden-Appelallee and Mainz-Mombach. According to reports, a patrol from the Control Group for Speeders, Show-offs, and Tuners was monitoring traffic on this stretch of highway when they spotted two cars reportedly accelerating extremely and overtaking multiple times on the right.

The pursuit ensued as the two speeding cars, driven by two young men from Mainz, were travelling at an alarming speed of 170 kilometers per hour, far exceeding the 80 kilometers per hour speed limit. The chase ended in the parking lot of a supermarket in Mainz-Gonsenheim where the two 22-year-old drivers were stopped by the police.

The patrol seized both cars, one mobile phone, and the driver's licenses of the young men involved. The investigation, currently focused on these individuals, has been initiated, and an investigation against the young men is underway.

Witnesses who observed the incident are being asked to come forward. At present, there are no relevant search results related to the illegal street race on A643 between Wiesbaden-Appelallee and Mainz-Mombach or police seeking witnesses.
