In a series of arrests near the city of Görlitz, two Polish nationals found themselves in legal trouble due to unpaid fines and document-related offenses. The incidents occurred as part of temporarily reintroduced border controls.

On Thursday morning, a 35-year-old Polish national was apprehended on the old town bridge by federal police officers. The offender was found to be driving without a euro, an offense that led to an outstanding fine of 350.00 euros with procedural costs of 319.80 euros. Facing the possibility of imprisonment, the individual paid the amount on the spot to avoid incarceration.

Later in the day, a 42-year-old Polish national was arrested as a passenger on the Görlitz city bridge. This arrest was due to a fine of 350.00 euros owed to the Chemnitz regional court registry for the same offense. The offender also had two arrest warrants issued against him by the Görlitz public prosecutor's office, one for a fine of 400.00 euros and the other for a fine of 800.00 euros, both of which remain unpaid.

The 42-year-old, who was under the influence of alcohol during the arrest, was likely to spend time in prison for now. His father had announced that he would pay the outstanding amount, which could potentially shorten his son's imprisonment. However, as of Friday morning, the payment has not been received.

In a separate incident in the evening, a 31-year-old individual was arrested at the motorway control point near Görlitz. The fines imposed by the Görlitz local court and the Weißwasser local court for forgery of documents amounted to 1,200.00 euros, plus procedural costs of 77.50 euros. Relatives of the arrested person paid the amount, and the individual continued his journey after the payment was made.

These arrests underscore the importance of adhering to traffic laws and the consequences of failing to settle fines and commit document fraud. The ongoing border controls in the region aim to maintain law and order, ensuring the safety and security of all individuals within its jurisdiction.
