Law Enforcement Officers in the Hot Seat
Magdeburg's Legal Authority has wrapped up their investigation into the actions of two law enforcement officers involved in a fatal shooting back in June. The tragedy occurred in Wolmirstedt, where they opened fire on a 27-year-old man following a knife attack. Regrettably, the victim didn't survive.
"The officers' use of firearms was justified," Magdeburg's Legal Authority stated. "The situation left them with no other choice but to defend themselves, and discharging firearms was their last resort to ward off the attack."
The suspect, of Afghan descent, is alleged to have stabbed a 23-year-old inside a multi- unit residence in Wolmirstedt (Börde district) on June 14. Later, he wounded three individuals with a knife at a garden party, marking the start of the Euro 2020 football tournament. The 27-year-old was met with lethal force by the police when he attempted to attack them as well.
Initially, the suspect was reportedly involved in a knife attack in Wolmirstedt. Due to his resistance, the 27-year-old victim faced a lethal response during the altercation with the law enforcement agents.

During a foot chase, a suspect threw a store sign on the ground, causing an officer to trip. As the officer fell, a shot was discharged from his weapon, inadvertently striking and killing the suspect[1]. However, it's important to note that this may not be the incident you are inquiring about, as more details or context are needed for confirmation.
