Author Sally Rooney expresses concern about potential arrest in the UK due to her support for Palestine Action.

In a heartfelt message read out by her editor at the Sky Arts Award ceremony in London, acclaimed Irish author Sally Rooney expressed her solidarity with the people of Palestine. This statement came after the pro-Palestinian group Palestine Action was designated as a terrorist organization under UK law in July.

Rooney, who wrote the award-winning book "Intermezzo", reiterated her belief in the dignity and beauty of all human life. She stated that she would donate earnings from her books and BBC adaptations to support Palestine Action, as reported in a piece for a website.

The author, who is 34 years old, has been advised that she cannot safely enter the United Kingdom due to her support for the banned organization. This warning came after Downing Street warned that she risked committing a terrorist offence due to her support for Palestine Action.

Sally Rooney's message of solidarity echoed after she won the Sky Arts Award for literature. She reiterated her stance on non-violent anti-war protest, a cause she strongly supports.

The group claimed responsibility for damaging two Voyager planes at RAF Brize Norton on June 20th. This action led to nearly 900 demonstrators being arrested at a central London rally protesting against the ban on Palestine Action in August.

Despite the travel restrictions, Rooney's love for her work remains undeterred. She expressed her gratitude for the success of "Intermezzo", stating that she loves writing it and is grateful that it has found a place in the lives of its readers.

In a further show of support, Rooney provided legal assistance to Huda Ammori, the co-founder of Palestine Action, against the Home Office over the decision to proscribe the group under the Terrorism Act 2000.

Rooney's solidarity with the people of Palestine serves as a testament to her commitment to human rights and peace, even in the face of adversity. Her actions continue to spark conversations and inspire change, demonstrating the power of literature and art in shaping public discourse.
