The Controversial Trial: Did a Bavarian Man Push an Austrian Doctor to Her Death?

Threat Letter Writer Faces Accusation of Misdeeds - Author of threatening letter found guilty by prosecution

In a dramatic turn of events, the trial surrounding the tragic death of a prominent Austrian doctor has reached its climax. The defendant, a 61-year-old man hailing from Bavaria, is accused of intentionally driving the vaccine advocate, Lisa-Maria Kellermayr, to take her own life with his menacing correspondence.

What's crux of this case, as stated by one of the prosecutors at the Wels Regional Court, is whether the Bavarian contributed to Kellermayr's demise via his ominous letters. A prosecutor from their office asserted, "Indeed, that's the claim."

Kellermayr received a barrage of sinister threats, including those of death and torture, from an anonymous perpetrator yet to be identified. However, the letters from the 61-year-old exacerbated her existing fears, according to a second prosecutor in his closing argument, supported by the opinion of a psychiatrist. The defendant's lawyer, in contrast, argued that the doctor had publicly attacked COVID-19 vaccine skeptics in an aggressive manner and suggested the threat scenario was baseless.

Should the defendant be found guilty, he faces a maximum imprisonment term of ten years. The verdict is set to be announced shortly.

[1] The accused 61-year-old man is alleged to have threatened the Austrian doctor with statements such as "We are watching you" and promises to bring her before a "people's tribunal" and imprison her. [2] The defendant's messages, along with other factors like Kellermayr's mental health problems and financial distress, are said to have contributed to her suicide. [3] Despite these allegations, the man pleaded innocent, asserting his messages did not contain threats and were driven by activism against compulsory vaccination. [4] The court found it challenging to pinpoint the defendant's exact responsibility as Kellermayr faced other death threats from an unknown perpetrator known as "Claas." [5] If convicted, the 61-year-old defendant faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
