Australia's Major Cities Brace for Cold: Drastic Temperature Drops Forecasted This Weekend in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, as Winter's Chill Engulfs the Nation

Brace yourself, Aussies! This weekend's weather across the east coast promises a chilling sneak peek of the upcoming winter.

Starting from the eastern parts of NSW and Queensland, the forecaster predicts a freezing blast that might also reach Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania.

Don't let the sun fool you! Strong winds are expected to pummel the east coast, stirring warnings of massive swells affecting northern coastlines of NSW and almost the entire coastline of Queensland. Inland regions, such as Canberra, will likely endure frosty mornings. Tasmania, in particular, might enjoy a bit of snow, and graziers have been urged to safeguard their sheep and cattle from the vicious wind chill.

'Powerful southeasterly winds will generate showers and rough waves along the northern coast of NSW and nearly the whole coast of Queensland,' Bureau meteorologist Christie Johnson stated.

'There will be showers along the east coast, joining forces with rude seas and powerful, gale-force winds along the coast, but inland areas should generally remain sunny,' Johnson added.

Incredibly, NSW is expected to receive more frequent showers north of Sydney, accompanied by early morning frost and fog patches before settling down. Not to be left out, the ACT, Victoria, SA, and Tasmania might also be hit by morning frost and fog.

Looking forward to Mother's Day on Sunday, May 12, 2025, the east coast is predicted to encounter scattered showers from south of Sydney to the north of Queensland. The rest of the country can prepare for crisp and sunny weather. So and so, Aussies on the east coast are in for a few scattered showers on Mother's Day.

By Saturday morning, the frosty weather will be apparent on a weather map across the country, with freezing temperatures across the east coast. As the day progresses, it should gradually warm up.
