In a nail-biting final at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Australia claimed victory in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, defeating China 90-89. This marked the third consecutive Asia Cup title for the Boomers, who have maintained an undefeated tournament record since their 2017 debut.

The game was a closely contested battle, with China taking an early lead and holding a 14-point advantage early in the second quarter. However, Australia's Xavier Cooks sparked a comeback, scoring 11 points in the second quarter to bring the teams level. The lead changed hands multiple times throughout the game, with China holding a slight 46-42 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Australia briefly led 53-50, but China responded strongly and was up 71-65 entering the final period. Jaylin Galloway, who was later crowned tournament MVP, kept Australia close with key three-pointers, including one with 8 seconds left that made it a three-point game before the final quarter.

The match was intensely close, with Australia edging China 90-89, securing their third consecutive Asia Cup title. Key performers for Australia were Xavier Cooks, who led the comeback with 30 points and nine rebounds, and Jaylin Galloway, who contributed 23 points and five rebounds.

China's second-place performance was a remarkable comeback after a decade without a medal since it last won the Asia Cup title in 2015. Hu Mingxuan led China with 26 points, while three Chinese players scored double figures: Hu Jinqiu (20 points, 10 rebounds), Cheng Shuaipeng (12 points), and Zhao Rui (10 points).

Officials present at the event included Sheikh Saud Al-Thani, president of the International Basketball Federation; K Govindaraj, FIBA Asia president; and Ghassan Tashkand, president of the Saudi Basketball Federation. Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, vice president of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, crowned Australia as the champions of the tournament's 31st edition.

This victory marks a significant achievement for Australia, who have now become the second team in Asia Cup history to achieve a three-peat. The Boomers' success is attributed to the quality of their players and their strong character, as highlighted by Adam Caporn, Australia's head coach.
