Augsburger Panther reactivate long-time goalie Keller - Augsburg Panthers bring back 42-year-old Markus Keller as active goaltender

The Augsburg Panthers have brought back Markus Keller as an active player after years away from the ice. The 42-year-old goaltender, who previously worked as the club's sports manager, is now eligible to compete again. His return fills an unused roster spot and adds depth to the team's lineup.

Keller spent 13 seasons in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) before stepping away from professional play. His experience between the pipes made him a well-known figure in German hockey. Recently, however, he took on a front-office role with the Panthers, overseeing operations as sports manager.

Now, the club has reactivated him as a player to address a need for goaltending cover. The move allows the Panthers to use an available player license while giving them extra flexibility. Keller's return provides a reliable backup option, ensuring the team can adapt to injuries or schedule demands.

The Panthers now have an additional goaltender with extensive DEL experience. Keller's dual role—both on the ice and previously in management—gives the team a unique advantage. His activation ensures the squad remains prepared for the challenges of the season ahead.
