Erzgebirge Aue Soars in Snow, Halle Struggles in Relegation Battle

With a Swagger in the Snow

Marcel Bär, the team's top scorer, netted two goals in the 14th and 45th minutes, sealing the victory for the 6714 spectators at the Erzgebirge Stadium. "Our runs down the flanks were fantastic," Bär shared with Magentasport TV after the match. "We prepared for this all week, and it showed against Dortmund. We had a constant presence in the penalty area."

The Red Card Turning Point

A brief glimmer of hope for Dortmund came when Aue's Marco Schikora was sent off in the 67th minute. However, the visiting team found themselves in hot water as well, with BVB's Hendry Blank receiving a red card ten minutes later. Both sides ended up with ten men, with the match remaining tightly contested. "We dominated the game from the onset," Aue's coach, Pavel Dotchev, mentioned, acknowledging two disallowed goals for the home team: one from Tim Danhof (10') and one from Bär (19'). "We didn't deserve to be denied those goals," added Dotchev. "We played well and earned the victory."

Dropping Further in the Relegation Battle

Meanwhile, Halle FC's struggle in the relegation battle persisted. A chance to gain ground on neighbors 1. FC Saarbrücken went amiss as Halle lost 2-0 to the Bayern Cup upsetters. "Our chances were limited," said Hertha loanee Julian Eitschberger. The visitors opened the scoring through Kai Brünker in the 19th minute, and Boné Uaferro added another in the 41st. Despite a brief spell of pressure, Halle couldn't find an equalizer. Enrique Lofolomo's red card (79') capped off the visitors' fine performance, leaving Halle with their ninth loss of the season.
