In an unusual turn of events, during Alexander Zverev's match at the Halle grass-court tournament, an advertising board unexpectedly crashed onto the spectators seated below. The Olympic champion from Tokyo promptly leaped into action, providing aid to the affected fans. Despite the disturbance, Zverev managed to secure a victory, advancing to the round of 16 with a 6:2, 6:1 victory.

Positioned as a "first aider," Zverev displayed remarkable composure throughout the incident. The Tokyo Olympics champion progressed in the tournament, demonstrating his focus and aggressive playing style.

During the first set, there was a brief pause in the game due to the incident. The advertising board had fallen from the upper tier onto the lower tier, causing a commotion. Zverev promptly offered an ice pack to the affected spectators, who subsequently left the stadium with medical assistance. The audience warmly applauded Zverev's quick response.

"The main thing is that everyone goes home happy and healthy," mentioned Zverev, expressing his satisfaction with the match outcomes and the incident resolution. "It was a great match for me. It was at a high level."

Sibling Rivalry: Zverev vs. Fritz

Following the incident, Zverev needed a brief moment to secure the first set. He was the last remaining German pro in the tournament, as previous competitors Daniel Altmaier (Kempen), Yannick Hanfmann (Karlsruhe), and Jan-Lennard Struff (Warstein) had already been eliminated. Zverev will next face Italian Lorenzo Sonego in his round of 16 match.

After losing the final in Stuttgart, Zverev set himself the goal of further refining his grass game for his next home match in Halle. "I don't have much time until Wimbledon," he reflected, looking ahead to the year's highlight starting on June 30. With his sights set on Wimbledon, the natural surface still poses a challenge for the three-time Grand Slam finalist - he has never made it past the round of 16 at Wimbledon's hallowed grass courts.

Battling the Best: Zverev vs. Alcaraz & Sinner

In his opening duel, Zverev displayed his strong serve and powerful baseline shots, demonstrating great prerequisites for the surface. However, he admitted that he could be more unpredictable to catch up to his currently leading competitors, such as dominators Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Zverev could still face Sinner in Halle, provided both make it to the final.
