Auction Off Animation Artifacts and Rarity Pieces to Gather Funds for Los Angeles Wildfire Emergency Aid
The animation scene is teaming up with ASIFA-Hollywood to roll out AnimAID, and a fundraising auction at Sotheby's is underway to provide financial aid to animation pros struck by LA's fiery wrath. Key players like Disney, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures Animation, DreamWorks Animation, LAIKA, and more heavy hitters have contributed an impressive selection of rare and distinctive animation art pieces for eager bidders to snag.
Los Angeles continues to unite and rebuild as the animation community battles the fallout of the city's wildfires. Animation producer Don Hahn (Beauty and the Beast, Howard) voiced his support on Instagram:
"The animation biz took a beating from LA's wildfires. Now, the animation universe is in solidarity, donating artwork—priceless artwork—to Sotheby’s for a special auction. The proceeds will go straight into the pockets of AnimAID and those funds will support fire victims in LA."
The meticulously curated collection boasts over 90 years of cinematic and small-screen marvels, such as Snow White, The Simpsons, Inside Out, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Wild Robot, Avatar, and many more iconic titles.
Hahn insisted, "Every bid makes a meaningful impact, helping people to reclaim their homes and lives."
The auction's bidding is currently open, and here's a peek at some of the items up for grabs. There's also a variety of film industry artist commissions, studio tours, autographed posters, and more, along with original production drawings and animation cells.
