Auction of Exclusive Benkos Villa on Lake Garda, Property Offering

Step into the opulent world of René Benko, the once-wealthy real estate tycoon turned inmate, as his former villa on the shores of Lake Garda goes under the hammer.

The Villa Ansaldi: A Testament to Benko's Grandeur

The Villa Ansaldi, a grand estate boasting a helicopter landing pad, yacht mooring, and several outbuildings, once played host to renowned personalities such as Tina Turner, Niki Lauda, and Silvio Berlusconi. Revel in the guestbook's entries, don Broadway robes, and slip into plush slippers, all up for grabs at the auction.

Benko's real estate empire, the Signa Group, crumbled in November 2023, marking the most significant insolvency in Austrian history. Since January 2025, Benko has been behind bars facing charges of fraud, insolvency offenses, and tax evasion, with his creditors demanding billions from him.

Auction Time!

The insolvency administrator of the Signa Group is now auctioning off Villa Ansaldi's entire inventory. Items range from the personal, like the celebrity guestbook or a newspaper from Benko's 40th birthday, to the mundane, such as used frying pans and doormats. Prices start as low as one euro, with expensive designer furniture fetching thousands of euros.

Villa Ownership Remains Elusive

The villa's extensive catering equipment, fitness studio possessions, office furnishings, riding lawnmower, mobile helicopter fuel tank, and wine collection are also on the auction block. Interested buyers can view the items online, with registration for viewing on July 5. The auction concludes on July 14.

The luxury property, however, remains out of reach. Although the Signa Group leased the villa, there's speculation that it's owned by a Luxembourg-based company, whose owner remains unknown. Some believe this company is among the foundations Benko used to safeguard significant portions of his wealth from creditors.
