Auction of Animation Collectibles to Aid Los Angeles Wildfire Recovery Fund
Rewrapped:
The animation community, in synergy with ASIFA-Hollywood, have rolled out AnimAID and a charity auction at Sotheby's to gather funds for industry peers affected by the LA wildfires. Major studios like Disney, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures Animation, DreamWorks Animation, and LAIKA have pledged a variety of exceptional animation artwork pieces as bait for bidders.
The online auction officially launched this week, aiming to aid artists and professionals within the animation industry who are encountering displacement or have lost their homes due to the lingering crisis in Los Angeles. Animation producer Don Hahn (Beauty and the Beast, Howard), voiced the cause on Instagram:
"The animation industry took a beating from the LA wildfires. Now, the animation world is bonded together by donating artwork to Sotheby's for a special auction that'll benefit AnimAID. The proceeds will go straight to fire victims in LA."
Rooted in cinema and television, the exhibition features over 90 years of captivating art, featuring treasures like Snow White, The Simpsons, Inside Out, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Wild Robot, Beauty and the Beast, Avatar, and many more beloved titles.
Hahn continued, "Every bid counts and aids people in rebuilding their homes and lives."
The bidding is currently on, and we're offering a sneak peek at some of the items up for grabs. The auction also includes film industry artist commissions, guided tours of animation studios, signed posters, and more, along with original production drawings and animation cells.
