Atyrau's heating stays on despite spring warmth and resident complaints

Atyrau is seeing unusually warm spring weather, with outdoor temperatures climbing to +20°C. Despite the heat, the city's heating system remains active, as daily averages still hover around +5 to +6°C—the usual threshold for keeping central heating on. The heating season in Atyrau normally runs from mid-October to mid-April, lasting roughly six months. This schedule matches other western Kazakh cities like Aktau, where cold continental winters push temperatures below 0°C from November to March. Municipal services continue working to maintain stable heating across the city.

Residents have called on local authorities to shut off the heating early because of the recent warmth. However, the city administration has set April 15 as the official end date for the heating season.

The heating system will remain operational until the planned shutdown date. Until then, municipal teams will keep monitoring and adjusting services to ensure safety and efficiency. The decision follows standard procedures based on average seasonal temperatures.
