Revamped Rowing Rumble on San Francisco Bay

Back in the day, four-seat coastal rowing races on San Francisco Bay were quite the spectacle, with teams from all over the Bay Area battling it out in thrilling regattas at local clubs. Sometimes, these races drew massive crowds of thousands! Fast forward to 2024, we've revived this tradition, hosting thrilling races between SERC and DC in our swanky new coastal Quads. Each event, aptly named, features six races: older men, older women, middle-aged men, middle-aged women, then juniors. Our inaugural event, 'Quadageddon', took place in May when a late-season storm was brewing, while 'Quadstravaganza' happened in June. So far, it's neck-and-neck; Dolphins have snagged six victories, while SERC has claimed six!

On July 20, we're gearing up for Quadapalooza, with the BIAC crew sailing in from Redwood City to join the fray. We're still holding out hope for a guest entry from Marin or OWRC!

Redesigned Race Course

This time around, the starting line will be anchored from a committee boat 500' off the entrance to Aquatic Park. The course will veer west from the start, loop around the YRA Perkins '6' buoy, east around a temporary downwind mark, and then sprint back to the finish line. To keep things exciting, a strong flood will be crashing on the morning of July 20! Total distance: 2000m
